Left handers have a little more difficulty finding a guitar that suits them. A left-handed acoustic guitar isn’t exactly rare, but it is more challenging to find a good one. The Martin LX1 Little Martin may be the end of the search for many left handed players.

Martin LX1 Little Martin: Materials and Construction

The Little Martin is a smaller ¾ size left-handed acoustic guitar that is quite popular, even among professionals such as Ed Sheeran.

It’s top and bracing are made of Sitka spruce. The back and sides are HPL (high pressure laminate) with a mahogany pattern, and the neck is a rust birch laminate. The fingerboard and bridge are made of FSC® Certified Richlite, and the saddle is compensated white Tusq.

Thus, much of this guitar is not made of what most people would call real wood. That’s not automatically a bad thing, but if you’re looking for more trees in your guitar, you’ll have to check out some other models.

The fingerboard width at the nut (which is made of white corian) is 1 11/16 inches. At the 12th fret (of 20 total), the width is 2 1/16 inches.

There is no pickguard on this guitar, as you can see in the picture. If you don’t like that look or effect, you’ll just have to pick (pun intended) a different model.

You get a soft gig bag to hold your LX1. Obviously, there are many hard cases available for purchase separately if you intend to cart it around a lot.

Conclusions about the Martin LX1 Left-Handed Acoustic Guitar

Just because a guitar is not full sized, doesn’t mean you can’t get a lot of sound and music out of it. After all, Mr. Sheeran uses this guitar frequently in concert, so can’t be too bad.

If you’re interested in Martin guitars but don’t want to spend a whole lot of money on your first one, this could be a good place to start.
